The 6th edition and the 10th anniversary

Since its 1st edition of 2001, the " Gulf's Week " has gained ground! It became a major maritime meeting for the crews of classic yachting and traditional sailing.
The boats which participate are more and more numerous and come to us from Brittany and close Atlantic regions but also from European ports.
This biennial event which is impatiently looked forward around the Ascension Day, opens the sailing season and associates the harbours and the mooring areas of fifteen municipalities which are sharing the coast of the Gulf. For this 6th edition and this 10th anniversary, the calendar has made its best by pushing back the Ascension Thursday to June the 2nd (all those who delay launching their boat will have no excuse this time!).
The tides' schedule is also very favourable with the turn of ebb tide of Saturday around 3:30 pm in Port-Navalo for a coefficient of 80.
So, here we have all the conditions for a beautiful party. Once more, all regular participants are welcome but also their friends and all those who have still never sailed the gulf.
Actually, the " Small Sea " is wide enough and welcoming enough to offer gorgeous sailings and exciting day trips to all those who will approach it softly, cheerfully and wisely with oars, or with sails (or even with steam) !

Loli up for Morbihan Week... and for sale!

Gaff-rigged sloop rebuilt in 2002 at the Ateliers de l'Enfer shipyard in Douarnenez, Loli was designed by Gaston Grenier and his plans won Le Yacht magazine's design award in 1902

Measuring 6.3 m from stem to stern, 8.5 m overall, and drawing 86 cm, she's an elegant keel boat, quick through the water and easy to handle.
Based at Arradon, Loli won't have to go far to fall in with Flotilla 7 and the rest of the small classic yachts under 8 m long.. Contact : Eric Boutet +33 (0)615 205578com@ericboutet.com

The Red Dragon of Wales is set to impress at the 5th Morbihan Week!

David Griffin and Mariam Moazzen (respectively Marketing Manager and Head of PR for the Milford Haven Port Authority) visited Vannes on 5th and 6th March to meet the organizers of Morbihan Week 2009, discuss the Welsh presence at the event and inspect the site of the Welsh Village. They brought with them a very good piece of news: the Welsh Government will be officially supporting the operation! Obviously this means the Welsh delegation will be able to increase the activities, exhibitions and events it will be bringing to Morbihan Week (in Vannes Harbour two traditional music groups will be playing in relay from Wednesday afternoon onwards). An impressive Welsh armada of 25 boats has been confirmed and includes the magnificent yacht Tom Tit (built 1894) and Keewaydin, a spectacular 32-metre ketch... Some great tasting sessions will also be on offer with special breads, pastries and other culinary delights including veritable Welsh Whisky!
As for the delegation of official ambassadors and representatives of this great European country that is Wales, we are expecting some high-ranking guests to be coming to Morbihan Week including several ministers of the Welsh Government...
In short, the Celtic charm of the Red Dragon is set to impress throughout the various sites of the little Breton sea!

6th March: Press conference in the offices of Morbihan Week 2009 with representatives from Milford Haven and Wales. From left to right: Daniel Gallenne, Gérard D'Aboville, Mariam Moazzen, David Griffin, Polig Belenfant, Anne Burlat, Jakez Kerhoas, Anne Morice.

Morbihan Week team at the Klassieke Schepen

The Morbihan Week team headed to Holland last November to take part in Enkhuizen's classic boat show. Our stand and brochures were much appreciated by the connoisseurs attending the event and many Dutch boat owners showed more than a passing interest in coming to Morbihan Week 2009... The team would like to thank Thédo Fruithof, founder and organizer of the Klassieke Schepen, for his warm welcome and Marcel Charpentier of the FRCPM (maritime heritage federation) for his precious logistical help..
